Acceptance and eligibility

By using Theory Commons, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Public content is available to a general audience. Accounts, when enabled, require confirmation that the member is at least 13. A parent or guardian must authorize a minor’s purchase.

Educational purpose

Theory Commons explains mathematics and science for learning and discussion. It does not promise academic credit, certification, grades, admission, employment, examination performance, or a particular learning outcome. It does not replace a learner’s school or instructor, nor medical, legal, engineering, radiation-safety, financial, or other professional advice.

Permitted use and ownership

Theory Commons and its licensors retain their rights in site text, design, software, labs, illustrations, videos, solutions, branding, and compilations. You receive a limited, revocable, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to access public materials for personal learning and reasonable classroom instruction.

You may link to public pages and make limited quotations with attribution. Unless permission or a stated license says otherwise, you may not reproduce complete articles, republish the site, redistribute course materials, resell content, or remove ownership notices.

Prohibited conduct

• Scraping or automated extraction that burdens the service or republishes substantial content.
• Interfering with security, availability, access controls, or another person’s use.
• Malware, malicious links, credential attacks, impersonation, or unauthorized access.
• Sharing account credentials or bypassing paid-access restrictions.
• Using Theory Commons materials in violation of law or another person’s rights.

Accounts and user contributions

These provisions apply when accounts and posting are activated. You must provide accurate account information, protect credentials, and promptly report suspected compromise. You retain ownership of original contributions and grant Theory Commons a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, display, moderate, and distribute them as needed to operate the service.

You remain responsible for your contributions. Theory Commons may review, restrict, hide, or remove material and may warn, suspend, or terminate accounts under the Community Guidelines.

Third-party services and links

Cloudflare supplies hosting and security services. Links to outside resources are provided for convenience and scholarship; Theory Commons does not control their content, availability, or terms. Additional providers will be identified before payments, advertising, or other integrations are activated.

Service changes, suspension, and termination

Content and features may be revised, discontinued, or temporarily unavailable. Access may be restricted for security, fraud, material policy violations, legal requirements, or operational necessity. Where practical, Theory Commons will use proportionate enforcement and preserve review records.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided on an “as available” basis. Theory Commons works toward accurate and reliable content but does not warrant that every page is error-free, complete, continuously available, or suitable for every purpose.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Theory Commons will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the service. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. The appropriate scope requires legal review for the operator’s jurisdiction.

Governing law and disputes

The governing law, forum, and dispute-resolution process have not been selected and require deliberate review by the site operator and qualified counsel. These Terms do not presently impose mandatory arbitration, a class-action waiver, or a specific court venue.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to the extent allowed. These Terms, applicable feature-specific terms, and incorporated policies form the agreement concerning use of Theory Commons.

Changes to these Terms

Updates will identify a new date. When account functionality is active, material changes may require affirmative acceptance of the new policy version.
